I recently reviewed an excellent report by Gartner on Critical Capabilities for Insight Engines.
Here are the three key findings:
– The range of embedded and custom touch points for the delivery of insight is increasing, serving multiple roles and use cases
– Insight engines continue to vary significantly in terms of ranges of prebuilt connectors, touch points, and integrations available
– Expansion to domain and situational use cases requires customization, which can be lengthy and challenging in the absence of productized solutions aligned to industry and functional verticals
I couldn’t agree more with the third finding. I believe it is time for AI-Based solutions with Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing, and Computer vision technology that can be rapidly deployed for a particular industry, with the deployment requiring NO Model Training, NO Document Customization, and NO Chat Bot Scripting.
And, finally, isn’t it time for the next generation of Insight Engines that provides an answer (i.e. a sentence or a paragraph from the reference documents) to an inquiry, rather than a list of URLs to documents?
